I don't think the government will settle, and I don't think they'll go for a light remedy either IMO.

Boies is a great lawyer. He's working for the government because he wants everyone to know that he's a great lawyer. There are almost no other reasons for Boies to be taking this case at a fraction of his usual salary.

So if he really is doing it for the publicity, it stands to reasons that he'll push for the most dramatic remedy available, whatever he may believe it to be (ie. The Man Who Broke Up Microsoft). After all, if the remedy is a slap on the wrist or if the DOJ settles, he will hardly be remembered.

Of course, the DOJ calls the final shots, but I bet he has alot of influence over them.

Since MSFT is my #2 position, I hope I'm wrong.
