Gottfried -

As much as I'd like to believe that, reports have tended to reinforce the theory that there has been a slowdown for all computer makers, not just Micron. Slowdowns in sales just before a significant new processor release have been seen in the past.

Your second point is well taken, however. As the expression goes, "a rising tide lifts all boats." So, too, a receding tide lowers them.

The first quarter may be week, but I'd be very surprised if overall computer sales did not show healthy growth in 1999.
