Loral owns 49% of SatMex, which owns Solidaridad, and which competes heavily with PanAmSat. The bum birds are built by Hughes, which is the #1 sat manufacturer, ahead of #2 Space System/Loral. Orion 1 is a HS601, as is SatMex V. PanAmSat is Skynet's #1 competitor and the CEO just resigned. All is related--the sat biz is a small world.
