Registry Magic Previews Virtual
Operator Working With New Microsoft
Technology for the Internet and
Telephony

New Technology Allows Users Around the World
to Access the Internet by Speaking Over a Telephone

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 1999-- Registry Magic® (NASDAQ:
RMAG - news) announced today they are working closely with Microsoft® Corporation
(NASDAQ: MSFT - news) in creating solutions that build on a new generation of Internet
technology allowing people to access the Internet over the telephone. These solutions make use of
Registry Magic's Virtual Operator® speech recognition technology and Microsoft's Web-based
IVR technology. Registry Magic is a leader in conversational speech recognition products and
services.

The integrated technologies will allow worldwide access to the Internet and execute e-commerce
transactions without being in front of a PC or having PC skills. The combined technologies are
targeted at large corporations and Internet Service Providers and will increase web site exposure to
anyone with a voice. The planned technology will also eliminate the need for interactive voice
response systems that may be cost prohibitive and require inefficient, and sometimes annoying,
touch-tone menus.

''Open platforms and standards enable new, innovative services for organizations of all sizes and
create new opportunities for vendors,'' said Mark Lee, product manager for Windows
Communications at Microsoft Corporation. ''Web-based IVR technology is consistent with this
movement toward openness and standards by enabling Internet and telephony convergence and we
are very pleased Registry Magic is working with us to make this happen.''

''We are thrilled to collaborate with Microsoft to combine our speech recognition technologies with
their Web-based IVR technology for the Internet,'' said Walt Nawrocki, CEO and President of
Registry Magic. ''We share the vision that in the short years to come, users will converse with the
Internet just as they do with people, and our Virtual Operator technology is the perfect platform to
enable it.''

Utilizing a Microsoft Windows NT platform, and named a 'National Treasure' by the Smithsonian
Institution, Registry Magic's Virtual Operator performs the tasks of a live operator using advanced
speech recognition technology. Answering up to twelve calls at once, the Virtual Operator can save
a company thousands of dollars in operational costs, improve customer service and enhance
corporate image. Eliminating the need for inefficient touch-tone menus, the Virtual Operator
personalizes automated telephone system with natural conversation and overcomes the lack of
touch-tone technology internationally where it may not be prevalent.

Microsoft Web-based IVR technology is a new run-time engine that enables vendors a new way of
creating and deploying voice applications, such as interactive voice response, using Web
technologies. Web-based IVR enables Web site access via a browser or telephone set using voice
commands or the telephone dial pad. It lets vendors cost-effectively build scalable IVR and voice
processing solutions using Web authoring tools and further enables the convergence of IP and
traditional telephony. This technology will be previewed for the first time at Computer Telephony
Expo Spring '99.

Registry Magic is a leader in conversational speech recognition products and services. The
company's award-winning products utilize proprietary technologies from Registry Magic and Lernout
& Hauspie (NASDAQ: LHSPF - news) and understand spoken words making it easy to access
data and perform human-like tasks. Registry Magic is a Dialogic (NASDAQ: DLGC - news)
