re: artificial markets...inflation/stock prices/dell i was the one butting in...but i believe movements in markets are contrived by some event which most times has no real bearing on an underlying issue...case in point dell...lets say you are msd, owning the business...if you see inflation rearing its ugly head do you sell your business and buy it back again when inflation ebbs?...why then do investors take this approach, running for cover for "safety", trying to time markets, hedging, asset allocation...all bs(and i don't mean black-scholes)... too many analysts...too much crystal ball gazing...case in point, this morning i see an interview with dlj analyst who downgrades intc..claims short term 1-2 qtrs soft, maybe seasonal, maybe not, maybe down below 100,maybe not, long term a definite buy with a target of 160....now why would you downgrade when you have a 160 target...wouldn't you put out a buy if you feel the stock has a 40% upside?...dlj analyst talks about amd eating intc lunch in cheap chips, but yet doj says intc a monopoly...IS THIS THE MAD HATTERS TEA PARTY....... |
