Call CPQ's comments what you will, but Wall Street PERCEIVED the comments as a warning and one that was not released in an even fashion. CPQ shoulda come forward voluntarily and reported this "softness" in the form of a company press release, thereby giving everyone the same advantage. Whether the "softeness' is significant or not, CPQ's bumbling, poorly thought out strategy, or lack thereof, lands the stock in the dog house once more.
