I like money, too. I like having it sitting there, available for me and my family when I need it. I hope I have enough to last until I die. You know, the Bible is full of stories about admirable people who work hard and are prosperous, like the psalm about the wife who is a pearl beyond price because she works hard and sells things in the marketplace, and provides for her family. I agree with you about Christ telling his followers to provide for the poor, and to sell all and follow him. But, if we all did that, actually became like the lilies of the field, there would be no one to farm, no one to build, no one to make clothes. We would be cold, wet, dirty and hungry. I just don't think Christ was very practical. He never claimed to be omniscient, you know. |
