Of course it can. And it's a shame others haven't joined in this discussion.
But, while self-centeredness can be carried too far, it is NOT in anyone's best interest to prevent or hinder the right of an individual to be overly self-centered. We all have the same right to live our lives as we feel. If being self-centered is what someone wants....then that is how he defines himself and his life.
