Greg- Hi...it looks like I'm becoming your best buddy lately...
Although I am glad Dell is getting into storage (for my Dell investment)...everything I've seen is that they have currently are starting from (basically) nothing (currently), and will only be a minor player (short-term)..even Dell, in the storage announcement, tried to downplay expectations by saying that they thought a lot of folks were going to wait to buy in 2000 (because of Y2K)...I figure that is a bit of a fudge...it is probably because it will take a little time for Dell to get his act together..
Re EMC: IBM and CPQ still are the ones to really worry about....Much bigger, and more direct competitors for EMC....They have been making a lot of noise lately, but it looks like, similar to the PC industry, companies like to talk first, act later (if at all)...
If you believe the CEO Ruettgers, that EMC is a generation or so ahead of its significant competitors....I think, then, EMC is still in a sweet spot here...it has behaved really well lately (given all the tech turmoil), and, IMO, we are getting close to seeing a nice run to the upside in the overall market...starting somewhere before April 1st...because of the Japanese inflow/tax money inflow that I've mentioned to you frequently..
I promise, I am not stalking you...<g> |
