Batteries / LEDs question for all of you engineers. My wife and I have a couple of two line telephones with cute little red LEDs to show if the phone lines are being used. We love when the LEDs are functioning properly. But lately, it seems that a short while after we put new batteries in the phone (three AA batteries) (usually NOT alkaline -- I buy the cheapest batteries I can find; usually at 1/6 to 1/8 the cost of Duracell batteries), the LEDs are only glowing very faintly. We tend to have the Internet on about 17 hours a day. Would 17 hours per day of lighting up one LED drain 3 AA batteries in a few weeks ? I was under the impression that LEDs draw a profoundly small amount of "juice." Jon.
