gregor, To go back to the start is the only way to get a clue as to why the stars may have once been important but are no longer. If the Word is written in the stars then it may have functioned as the text or at least reference point for believers from Adam on down to the day it was put in written form. This knowledge degraded with time and also became much less important when the Word in written form was available. A few points: I freely admit that this seems preposterous that God would have arranged the stars to signify any Truths by their pattern. To us anyway. There are so many objections, such as, how would they look from the edge of the Milky Way etc. Yet it is a principle that so much in the physical realm, whether you use the naked eye, a telescope or a microscope serves to confirm the hand of the Creator. As a matter of fact it is an interesting concept that when you look at the works of man they suffer greatly when viewed by either a microscope or a telescope whereas God's works just display new levels of inherent truth and beauty. I should differentiate this whole discussion on the stars and other discussions about the Word, that my talk about the stars is not necessarily Biblical Truth cut and dried. Rather it is something I find implied in the Word. Therefore I am saying it is an interesting possibility, but not to be taken as doctrine or an article of faith. But just because we are of the Faith of Christ does not mean we should lose our capacity to wonder; we should just keep it in perspective. I find the Bible does not answer me unless I question it and this I am unafraid to do, because I know it has not and never will fail to yield the truth in good time. Faith in its integrity is the key and I do not feel you can fully open the door unless you test the lock. So in a that sense I sometimes post things both to air my own thinking and to challenge others to more deeply consider the integrity of God's Word. I believe that a lot of what we get out of the Word is in how we approach it. The Word is not just a book, it is God's instruction book for us, it is a Spiritual thing, the living Word. Now I know you won't get a pulse from your Living Bible or KJV, but I believe the Word reacts to us in how we approach it, in that God deals with us according to and through His Word. It ain't called a Testament for nothing <VBG>, it is a living covenant to us. If we approach the Word with a heart desiring to know the truth, with a heart desiring to know the Author of Truth, He will see that we find it(caution, patience required!). This is why unbelievers are UNbelievers, they approach the Bible with an agenda, with a desire to bend it to their philosophy or their thoughts. And so it yields them nothing but reproof. You cannot force Almighty God to do your own puny will. I think a personnage by the name of Satan had that same problem some time ago.
A final thought and then I must go, Genesis and Revelations are deeply intertwined and thoroughly connected. This explains part of my interest, or wonder, at things celestial. I hope you don't mind me unloading these things on you Greg, I know you are familiar with these things from the Word.
God Bless
