greg,
Here we have to understand that the King of Tyre was a "type", the type for which he was is evident and obviously a supernatural being (U NO WHO) is being addressed here. EZ 28:12-15, edited Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God: Thous sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God, every precious stone was thy covering ........(Hence serpent=its translation as "shining one"?)... in the day that thou wast created. The annointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God, thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee....." (Also note, that because of the violence that his iniquity engendered, (think of all the people that have died, all but one actually on account of satans sin) God will destroy satan when it is time)
So I would say this ex-"cherub" is pretty smart, certainly more than a match for us poor human folk. You have summed it up in your sentence "If satan can get us to believe that he knows all..." and it applies to a lot!
Greg, off base? On the contrary, you're sliding across home plate. BTW, You have mentioned a key to understanding Revelations. First the events take place in heaven, then the result takes place on earth.
God Bless,
