A price war seems unlikely. The CFO of Intel announced a policy change today. Rather than have margins return to "traditional levels" (50%) as announced in the conference call after the earnings announcement, Intel will keep margins at 60%. This implies that prices will remain high, giving AMD and Cyrix a chance to get their feet in the door.
