Forget the bio-deisel.) 03/01/1999 - ZAP Names France Agent, Ships $100K in Orders Sebastopol, Calif. - ZAP Power Systems announced today it has named an exclusive representative in France for its electric bikes, bike kits and scooters and has already shipped more than $100,000 worth to customers there. The agent, Michel Grunberg of Energecycle, said he believes the zero-emission vehicles will be popular in France because of increasing concerns about air pollution, particularly in a number of areas where city centers are closed to conventional vehicles during smog emergencies. His company has been test-marketing ZAP products there for more than one year. To accommodate France's motor-vehicle standards, ZAP has redesigned its drive system to conform to French requirements. ZAP has already lined up a number of representatives for Europe, including Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Italy.
