MG & Jody, going outside is fine as long as they don't have to give him/her a deal that says they make nine figures even if they fail. Too many companies, IMO, go looking for hired guns that end up not working out, piss off and cost the company a lot of good people, and then walk with huge settlements. Breaking from tradition is one thing, but a mistake on who they break it for could cost dearly in terms of employee morale and investor sentiment, neither of which seem to be at their peak right now.
