March 02, 1999: GI Modems Win @Home OK Horsham, Pa.-General Instrument Corp.'s SURFboard high-speed cable modem has received approval from @Home Network for cable-data-networking services, GI announced Monday. The @Home nod allows GI to supply its SB2100 SURFboard cable modem in large trials and deployments with @Home affiliates. GI said the @Home Level 2 approval also confirms that the modem is interoperable with DOCSIS-based (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) headends.
