I resemble that remark *"goof ball"*, and I hope people did not take my quick link out of context. I understand MPEG compression, and use it for converting training video's to CD ROM. The MPEG-2 encoding and decoding that Sony is going to do is not related to the company symbol MPEG, other than their hardware & software tools for MPEG-2 compression could be used for authoring purposes to create interactive games & other titles that would be playable on the new Playstation. The greater application of streaming MPEG-2 is for broadband networks used in Television broadcasting or large intranet applications. I spoke to Ian in sales at length about his product and applications. Since the turn around team came in July the company has been growing. They are hard at work signing on distributors and many more have contacted them and are negotiating for the right to distribute their product. I even asked about my territory and what he saw for potential. Medical applications, corporate video networks, and broadcast TV quality servers are potential sales areas. The cost of their products range from $10,000 to $100,000 dollars depending on the applications. The DVD5000 development system retails for $35,000 a bit rich for my needs at this time. But for a corporation that wants to do broadcast quality video it is certainly affordable. This is a ground floor opportunity to own stock in a company that is offering product solutions for the next generation of video format MPEG-2. Their sales network is expanding and we should be hearing more from the company in the form of news releases announcing their efforts in signing distributors. When I asked about sales figures he was obviously vague, but when I asked if it will be an improvement over the last few 10-Q's he commented that things have certainly improved under the new management team and the future looks bright. He did say that he thought his stock options should be worth $10 a share by next year if the industry use of MPEG-2 keeps growing and if they get a percentage of the business that they project will be out there. I was very impressed by his knowledge and background in the technology and sales and marketing of their product.
