After reviewing much material about the Oro Grande dated in the first years of this century I have found no evidence of shipments of gold bearing ore from any of the several Oro Grande mines. Also I have not found any evidence of penalties from the San Francisco mint regarding platinum contamination. There very well may be such evidence and such shipments that I do not have access to.

What I did find were multiple reports from apparently reliable investigators that the Oro Grande complex of mines was an extraordinarily rich and extensive deposit with multiple and huge vein systems. They were, of course mining for gold only. There are workings on these mines and material was extracted. It had to have been processed and refined somewhere. Perhaps not all work gets recorded.

Global has reported on the penalties for platinum from the San Francisco mint. I wish that DeNoble or Jensen would tell us where the source for this belief can be found.

On the basis of the Inco report and of the Thomas work I have no doubt that pgms are present in the ores. Particularly Thomas has reported multiple ounces per ton in his samples. Now McKay comes up with very high assays. I suspect that much of his work was at the OG but this remaines to be determined.

I would not underestimate Thalls reports as far as they go.

Regards Ed
