<G>If I could chime in... as one of the engin-nurds who's a big Linux [http://www.redhat.com/]
fan... I'd like to say: Windows NT will replace unix when it BECOMES unix!!! Ok. Ok. [For you
other gear-heads] I didn't make that one up... but it's one of my favorites. 'Course some of us also
said the same thing about the MacOS vs. Windows. [I think NT WILL become unix... then Bill can
say he invented it.]

Seriously. Linux doesn't give a damn about "going after" any market. Hell, it's free (almost... Bill
must love that!). You can get a copy of the source code. You can modify the kernel, the drives, i/o
subsystem, .... (HUH? Ok. I'll stop.)

As a sub-note. I work in a lot of different engineering groups, in a lot of different companies. And,
NT has made a lot of inroads. Hell I (*huh*) use it daily. However, it's still a unix world out there.
The code I compile and applications I build still (for the most part) run on a unix box.

BUT! Unix on YOUR desktop? In 1999? I hope not! I'm with Mr. McNealy, I hope we get these
blobs of memory, disks, cds, modems, adapters, ... off your desk and give everyone a usable
"information appliance" that's easier than a vcr to use. <Ok. It's just a dream right now.>
