While you may be correct about the phone not having a jack for an AC adapter, this would be pretty unusual. My experience was that the phones either had AC capability or no batteries at all. Then the LED's were Ring Indicators, so you answered the correct line, and went out when you picked up the phone. Some phones had bases that disattached and turned around so the phone could be used either as a wall phone or table phone. Sometimes the jack for AC was underneath so it did not get pulled loose when the dog knocked the phone off the nightstand. You might look there. Can you tell I worked at Radio Shack for a while?
