Hey, kids!

Check out the Top 5 Best-Sellers at www.pcmall.com

1. E Machines eTower 300k $449.00

2. Iomega Zip 100MB cartridge, gray, PC $19.99

3. Umax AMD K6-2/ 350MHz Mid Tower $699.00

4. Toshiba Satellite 4010CDS Notebook $1,149.00

5. E Machines eTower 333id $649.00

Wow. That's gotta hurt! The number two product among the whole universe of PC products is a Zip disk. Nice, high-profit product. Gee, I guess we don't have to say bye-bye to margins after all.

And check this out:

Top 5 Best-Sellers in the Storage category at www.pcmall.com

1. Iomega 100MB Zip drive, parallel, factory refurbished $79.99

2. Iomega Jaz 2GB External Drive $349.99

3. Seagate Medalist 6.5GB EIDE ULTRA DMA hard drive $149.99

4. Iomega Zip 250MB Parallel Port Drive $199.00

5. Seagate 4.3GB Medalist Ultra DMA hard drive $119.99

Wow again. Three out of five of the top selling storage products are from Iomega.

BTW, just to be serious here, I think it's very interesting that the top selling items overall include three sub-thousand dollar PCs AND a single Zip disk cartridge. Perhaps the trend toward higher growth in the low end of the computer market isn't going to kill Iomega.

And another BTW, the Top 5 Best-Sellers in the storage category on Mac Mall also include the USB Zip (at #2) and the SCSI Zip (#4). No question the USB Superdisk scores slightly higher with Imac buyers, due to the fact that Imac has no floppy. But apparently the Zip is still "on the radar." On the PC side, the Zip is still the king.
