I considered a few possible ways the tadpoles - and, by definition, frogs or toads, though I didn't see any - might have got there. Maybe a bird grabbed one, flew that way, and it escaped? Hardly likely; it's a hell of a long way to anywhere. The stream does run down to places where one would expect these things; could they have migrated up? Even up the waterfalls? The falls aren't huge, but a bit much for a frog. I have no answers; I suppose some study of post-volcanic regeneration has been done, and there might be some ideas there. It would be an interesting study for a wildlife biologist.
