The following is my opinion, and my opinion alone. This opinion is NOT for market players or experienced short-term traders.

I think the market has begun a very turbulent, violent upthrust period that can be called a "blowoff top". In this environment, one can lose money as the market explodes, by selling into selloffs and buying into rallies.

The end result will be a rather precipitous decline that will ruin many nest eggs. I feel that this is a market where the small investor needs to "get defensive". Defensive stocks are those that do well in a bear market, and in resessions. Consumer non-durables are a good example, like Kimberly-Clark and RJR.

If this sounds pretty conservative, it's because it is.
