As for my family, I lead where I am best suited to lead, and my wife has the same consideration and priveleges. My wife is more talented/evolved than I am in some respects(compassion being one)
and is a greater teacher of those qualities to my children. i wish my children to learn from the greater example, not the lesser. there are other aspects that I am better suited. Let the better person lead, IMO.

Don't assume I do not extend my wife many of the same considerations. A good leader will do that you know.

Take in your example of compassion. In my family the issue of "leading" has never come up in that regard. Children will learn (or at least some day they will remember) what each parent brings to the table. As far as spirituality is concerned , my wife is a spiritual woman no doubt. We are not grading each other on that aspect of our walk.
But your last statement about let the better person lead, IYO; given God has given you opportunity and access to be what He has called you to be, as we have seen, then you choose your opinion over what I see as God's word. It is not much different than what you have chosen before, just a different angle on the fact that you believe you can do a better job than what God has provided.

According to scripture God has given you the tools to be a good servant in the home. If you choose to ignore them, then it is you that should be questioned... not God.

But thats ok. Many thought they knew better than God. Why even the great Elijah told God he was the only good one left.(1 Kings 19)
