Cook County, Illinois, Selects J.D. Edwards to Improve Service to Its Constituents; Second Largest County in the U.S. to Leverage J.D. Edwards' Idea to Action Solution
DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 3, 1999--Enterprise business software provider J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq:JDEC) today announced that Cook County, Ill., the second largest county in the U.S. according to the U.S. Bureau of Statistics, has selected J.D. Edwards OneWorld(TM) and WorldSoftware(TM) to increase efficiency and better meet the needs of over 5.1 million constituents.
Cook County, home to 140 municipalities including the City of Chicago, needed a flexible solution to integrate disconnected systems of data and provide employees access to critical business information in a more timely manner.
Like other large government organizations such as the City of Orlando, Fla., and Wayne County, Mich., Cook County will benefit from J.D. Edwards Idea to Action(TM) solution.
Enabled by ActivEra(TM), the Idea to Action solution allows governments to remain in control of their organization and still implement new ideas, new community mandates or new legislative changes quickly and easily without relying heavily on the IS department.

In partnership with IBM Global Services, Cook County will implement J.D. Edwards OneWorld logistics/distribution, human resources and financial suites, as well as the WorldSoftware services and payroll suites on the IBM AS/400(R) platform with a DB2/400 database. The first phase of the implementation is scheduled for completion in December 1999.
