>>Mike, I can't speak for others on the thread, but it seems to me that this single thread could become a sort of clearing house in which we severally identify logical candidates in a group of baskets...

Chaz, you are just as qualified as anyone posting here to make constructive suggestions about the thread. Your portfolio's list of favorite stocks (amat aol brcm csco gnet msft ntap rmbs) indicates you are a G&K investor whose investment interests also include emerging primates.

The market basket identification and evaluation process you are advocating is already taking place, but maybe a little slower than you'd like. Mike Buckley has published a list of "breeding ground" sectors, and is already posting reports on his area of interest, the front office basket. JRH is tracking cross basket candidates in his W&W portfolio. Once the number of stocks in W&W grows to a larger number, it will be possible to identify hot sectors from the entries, and W&W may spawn sector W&W portfolios.

The process takes a lot of effort, and most of us are busy tending to our own investments, while reading and posting to G&K for ideas, comparison, and companionship. Mike Buckley, JRH, and LindyBill (who wrote our GG definitions page) have done our community special service through their unselfish efforts.

Very simply, how far we progress in becoming an analytical thread is based solely on how many of our threadmates can find the time to contribute to that effort.
