Could be up today on buyout rumors.

But you have to discount that actually occurring. AOL isn't shopping the company around, and who would come at them hostile? Really?

I think it's shorts unwinding their positions. Lots of other stocks moved up today, but a 10% AOL up day has some urgency behind it. 94 million shares out, 24-25 million short at last report. Todays trading 4.5 million. Heavy.

The news is out. Bad q2. Lawsuits. Cancellations. A few reductions of q3 estimates due to modem rentals. Everything a short could want. If it won't go down on all that, and you have a short time frame, you fold your hand. That is what is happening, and it has a way to go yet.

Meanwhile, a few analysts raised their FYE 6/30/98 estimates based on what they saw in the Other Revenues section. Ads and e-commerce are pumping. And the final blow: the cash balances went up!
