JBL--
As one you've previously deemed "reasonable," I'd like to remind you that I've independently posted a response about Mena that pretty much mirrors Daniel's take on this matter.
The WSJ, in its Clinton bashing monomania, has buried the lead on this story. Again, I've not read their previous reports, but today's synopsis makes perfectly clear that the Mena shenanigans, whatever they turn out to be, occured at the behest of the Feds who were running the show. We see the involvement of the CIA and DEA, both D.C. outfits under the direction of the Reagan administration. And to ignore the obvious similarities to the Iran / Contra affair -- in favor of throwing in death by locomotive and a disputed local coroner's report -- defies all logic.
This piece really smacks of desperation, JBL. But, yes, Clinton could somehow be implicated, although that likely misses the point.
"While there is an extraordinary story to be told, it's unlikely that the president is going to be too severely embarrassed."
