Amazon.com <AMZN.O> VP may have sold 10,000 shares WASHINGTON, March 3 (Reuters) - Sheldon Kaphan, vice president and chief technology officer at Amazon.com Inc., may have sold 10,000 common shares for about $1.3 million, a Securities and Exchange Commission document said. A spokeswoman for the popular Seattle-based Internet retailer declined to comment on the proposed sale, saying: "We don't talk about our employees and their shares." Kaphan, who has been VP and CTO since March 1997, filed a form 144 with the SEC saying he planned to dispose of the stock around Feb. 26 through Goldman Sachs in San Francisco. That form signals an intention to sell but does not obligate a sale. As of March 1, 1998, Kaphan beneficially owned a 4.5 percent stake in the company, according to Amazon.com's most recent proxy filed with the SEC on May 5. The company currently has about 158 million shares outstanding. Amazon.com's stock was trading at $123.375 on Nasdaq, up $2. |
