When I think of parallax, I think of the way that things "bounce around" when you look at them by first closing the left eye, and opening the right eye, and then vice versa. If the thing you are looking at is close enough, then the difference in angle can really make a change. This could be a nice metaphor for the change in your understanding of a word or phrase after someone points out that you are misusing it, particularly (especially?) when they explain why.
