Generally AOL likes to make a exclusive deal with a vendor and then plaster sales dialogue boxes at the entry point for subscribers. Remember how they did it with 9 cents a minute calls? Like that. Then AOL can charge a premium for advertising.

Somehow AOL is going to have to get cable access - DSL will never do. Everybody knows it. It will be interesting how it all plays out. ATHM wants to compete with AOL so they don't want to give up the "opening" or home screen to AOL.

Maybe T can trade ad costs for some kind of discount on bandwidth - who knows... there is lots to trade with between these two.

What I would like to know is if T is going to do a stock buy-back to get the share price up before going ahead with the split. Makes no sense to split inthe 80s.
