3Dfx is the card of choice for computer enthusists. We have been asked by owners of our products to make prereleased and BETA drivers available on our website. The drivers in question are made available as a service to those who made this request. Before posting any drivers we do extensive testing. Further testing is required before we will release the driver to the public, through the board manufacturer. The driver in question was still in an unreleased state. While it is unfortunate that this driver may have caused problems with certain configurations, the driver is clearly marked as not released.
The drivers posted were release candidate drivers, and *not* full release Gold Master versions. The reference drivers are provided to users at their own risk and are unsupported. We highly recommended that users use drivers that are provided by their board manufacturer.

DO NOT GET the new Banshee drivers If you have an Abit BH6 motherboard. I have no 3D function whatsoever now and I cannot back out of the new driver. The old Dec. 2 driver no longer works either.
Banshee 2d hardware acceleration fails (crashes machine) on "People's General".
The quality of the board drivers is critical to 3dfx as an investment. I am dissapointed.

More on my Banshee driver problems.
I have two systems, one with Wicked3D PCI Banshee and one with Monster AGP Banshee. Yesterday, on Monster AGP system, with new 1.02 driver, 3d functions were broken, but the Wicked3D PCI/Abit ax5/K6 system worked fine. (win 98) Today I upgraded the K6 to a Celeron/Abit-bh6 system and guess what, now I have no 3d function on either system. This problem is new with the 1.02 drivers. 2D works OK, as long as hardware acceleration for windows is turned off (try SSI "People's General" to make your 2D hardware acceleration fail with hardware acceleration set to max). I conclude that your 1.02 drivers don't work with Abit BH6 mother boards. These attempts were not overclocked.
Please fix this. I WILL post an evaluation of your responses/responsiveness to the SI TDFX investment forum. >>
