The Coz,
"Nepotism" in business is common. I can certainly see CGI somehow benefit from this union.
However, and a big however, IMHO I do not think that this is our Holy Grail. Canadian companies listed in the US generally attract very little attention. BCE for instance, with a market cap of $25BB, has an average daily volume of 195,000 shares. GIB attracts less than 15,000 shares/day.
If we are looking for success in the United States, then the only way to achieve that success is through an acquisition of an American company. Furthermore, a privately held company will not suffice. To obtain the immediate recognition, or should I say greater valuation for our shares, the acquistion MUST be of a known publicly traded company.
At the risk of offending some readers, the identification to Canada must be downplayed. Don't ask me why Americans would respond negatively. All I know is that they do. We can break our heads trying to change their mentality at "eternum" or we simply accept it and take the money.
Good Luck to all,
