My reasons for owning AAPL.

1) Relative to the Wintel platform, AAPL has *distinctly superior* technology in the PowerPC, NeXT/MacOS, QuickTime and Newton. Note: Those who dispute this, please review and comment on the links I've posted over the last week.*

2) APPL has sufficient financial resources to work through its restructuring.

3) Current AAPL management, while being a little clever regarding their own compensation, is putting the changes in place to allow AAPL to prosper as a value -added computer maker.

4) AAPL has the most loyal user base in the industry - an 86% repurchase rate. World-script capabilities pace its 52% of sales from fast-growing overseas markets.

5) With innovations and enhancements to quality, AAPL enjoys a solid product line that people want to buy -- particulary knowledgeable buyers in specialty, niche markets. The slow sales of the Performa line was due to negative publicity about the company; a slow Xmas shopping season; and the expanded market share of Mac-clones. Demand for other lines remained strong. I believe new products -- laptop, desktop, servers, PDA -- are/will sell well.

6) The NeXT OS. Computer Reseller did a survey where 90% of respondents said that NeXT *will* increase AAPL market share.

Personal background, I'm a buy and hold investor whose vehicle of choice is closed-end and open-end mutual funds. I look for vehicles, asset classes and investments styles that have *underformed* for two or more years. Once acquired, I try to hold on to those for as long (1-5 years) as I can. (Peter Lynch said his best investment ideas "blossomed" in their 3rd - 5th year.)

Will those who are bearish on AAPL do some homework to back up their opinions? Post arguments/links. Comment *intelligently*. Thank you.
