GENERAL MOTORS CORP said its U.S. vehicle sales, including heavy
trucks and Saab cars, jumped 17.5% in February due to strong
midsize car and light truck sales. GM, the world's largest
automaker, said total vehicle sales rose to 389,049 units from
331,140 in February 1998. Total car sales rose 18.8% to 207,990
from 175,042 while total truck sales, including heavy trucks,
climbed 16.0 percent to a February record 181,059 from 156,098.
Sales of domestically- made light trucks rose to 177,421 from
