Any good mechanic can also time a car engine with just his ears, but I'd much rather spend the $40 for a good timing light, just to make sure it was 'right on'...However vacuum hose leaks (which retard timing) always drove me nuts trying track down...now I know why--I couldn't hear in that range! But if the price wasn't too steep for the amount of usage, I'd have a Model A07 in MY tool chest (Snap-On roll away, of course--after the first MRPS stock split I hope).
