If you have Netscape:
To find out, select Edit and then Preferences from the Netscape menu, and then under "Advanced" should be a "Proxy" selection. If you look at the proxy setup, is it configured for "Direct Connection to the Internet", or is it set up to use a proxy?

If you have Microsoft IE, it's under View/Internet Options, and then hit the Connections tab.
