Market Gems update: I'm currently in negotiations with a new company that might "manage' the entire Market Gems website, that will include broadcast instant e-mail, downloading our watch list and newsletter to your e-mail as a possible alternative to getting it off the website, all future website graphics & design, taking care of any new additions (java, real audio, etc that might be on the agenda), eventually giving us our own server, and handling any problems that might crop up (which I used to do myself). We are currently pretty busy with registrations/renewals and they are taking up too much time. With full automation of the website, it will personally free up a lot of my time to just do the newsletter, watch list and intraday updates. These people run a few of the major financial websites and they seem be doing a pretty terrific job.

We are also looking into incentives for our subscribers who are 'lurkers' on SI that might give them a break on the subscription rates if they decide to become members SI.. but that is still in "sounds good to us" stage. And again let me mention that we have a permanent arrangement with GNET for advertising for the next 6 months, at least and our banners will NOT be on SIlicon Investor but on their other sites. We don't like the idea of members of SI not having to see our banners.
