Mad2, while appreciate you post, you really offer nothing of great note.

1. Battery Life. I have a two laptops with a NMGC chip. I always plug them in. People make a great deal about battery life. In certain situations I wish my battery would last longer. The main thing is about space and cost for laptop makers. NMGC's chips take up less space and since it has less parts in total...costs less.

2. Margins. Listening to the CC, Neomagic seemed very confident that margins would remain in the high 30%. Remember the new 256 chip was just released. Also, the 256 3D/DVD chip will be released this summer. Both products have high margins. Finally, NMGC predicts around 40% margins for DVD and even higher for digital cameras.

3. Market share. NMGC's market share continues to grow. NMGC is in over 66% of the new laptops that will be shipped this Spring. We hear a lot of about ATI and TRID. ATI is in the high-end market. NMGC has never been in this market. Furthermore, this market is shrinking. TRID is in the very low end market. They are selling their chips at warehouse prices. TRID is taking market shares away from Chips & Tech.... not NMGC.
