At the moment, the market is voting for IBM as the big winner, but I'd like to see the details. This deal appears to give Dell instant credibility in the enterprise, since IBM is synonymous with it. If Dell can indeed leverage the relationship in regard to R & D ala Intel, they pull off another good move. At the very least, it diminishes Compaq's advantage in the services area to some extent, and that is being reflected in how CPQ is trading today in a strong market. There are also lots of possibilities here, IBM could source laptop tech to Dell, and Dell could also build desktops for IBM...
