Why do two talented people team up? When they realize that they can't do it alone, they are far behind, they are out-gunned, or some other compelling reason that _necessitates_ such a move. To me, IBM and Dell teaming up reaffirms my belief that EMC is kicking their butt. If IBM felt like they were capable of keeping up, they would never make a deal like this. DELL is a nobody in this business. IBM would want to keep the profits to themselves.

That is, of course, if this deal was made with the intention of toppling EMC's strangle on the storage market.

This deal is a bullish indicator for EMC. Everyone else is losing the war at a tune of $50B.
