Indeed, very interesting and plausible remarks--thanks Andrew.

I think this transition will make THQ's stockpile of cash all the more timely. This development will cost big bucks. Taking advantage of the PS 2's new graphics potential will almost surely require much innovative programming, and once buyers taste the results, they will likely expect nothing less. And I agree with other posters that as long as Sony keeps enough flexibility on console pricing to stoke demand (and the huge revenue in games and licensing will give them a big incentive to do this), the platform should be a runaway sucess.

With Game FX in place, development and release of graphic intensive games like the new PIII oem products, and plenty of $ for development, THQ seems FAR better situated than they were 1 year ago to handle a platform transition like this.
