Current Digital Still Cameras have a max resolution of 1.3 million pixels.
For example the Fuji FinePix and the Olympus Camedia.

We will soon see 2 million pixels.

Today's standard Silver Bromide type film (kodak, fuji, etc) are the equivalent of 20 million pixels.

However, for practical purposes the human eye cannot really discern the difference after about 6 million pixels.

This was told to me by the guys at Olympus who design DigiCams. I believe them.
