J.D. Edwards Expands Enterprise Supply Chain E-Commerce Options
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 1999--Enterprise business software provider J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq:JDEC), today announced its support for the Microsoft BizTalk framework as part of its ongoing expansion of e-commerce options.
BizTalk enables applications to speak the language of business by defining common document schema, data handling and services protocols.
"We will support the Microsoft BizTalk document and protocol framework while working with Microsoft and our joint customers to further enhance these specifications," said Michael Schmitt, senior vice president at J.D. Edwards. "Users have been asking for easier ways to link different applications and business processes together -- within their organization, across their extended supply chain and throughout the world of e-commerce. BizTalk is a natural extension of J.D. Edwards' e-commerce and interoperability solutions and supports J.D. Edwards' vision for ActivEra(TM). The combination will enable our users to execute dynamic, customer-centric supply chains with a degree of flexibility and openness that we haven't seen before."
J.D. Edwards enterprise software will easily and securely extend communications to customers around the world by supporting Microsoft's E-Commerce and BizTalk frameworks. "Reaching new and existing markets with personalized Web-enabled merchandising, promotional and order options is a high priority for our customers," said Schmitt. "The Microsoft commerce platform provides a widely accepted e-commerce model for deploying tailored sales order and service management applications to the Web and extending the power of J.D. Edwards' supply chain solution beyond the enterprise."
"Right now, our order status information is close to real time only because we transfer files three times a day from our CustomerCommerce sales system," said Kevin Hall, chief technology officer at Amherst Corporate Computer Sales and Solutions, a $200 million reseller of computing technology headquartered in Amherst, N.H. "When we implement the J.D. Edwards e-commerce solution later this year, we will be able to capture the reality of the moment -- true synchronization of sales information for immediate, accurate answers to client inquiries."
