<<Except for the fact that the Celeron is faster on applications than K6-2 can ever be even with 3DNow enhancements. Price is the only factor behind AMD's success in the retail market>>

That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. At pricewatch, a 400 Celeron is more than $20 less expensive than K62. Price is no longer a factor behind the success of K62 Vs. Celeron. I have yet to talk to somebody who has a good impression of the Celeron. Even the "new" celeron with cache which is much better than the original. The fact that K62 is a better name than Celeron is truly a remarkable success for AMD.

Unless Pricewatch vendors get K62-400 at a much higher price than OEM's and they DO get the Celeron 400 and about the same price than the OEM's you argument doesn't jive. I do not know about the pricing strategy of AMD and Intel for tier one OEM's and small retail outlets.
