In the interview, Kumar confirmed that CPQ was stuffing the channels. I congratulate you and Jim Kelley, for it is what you had preached all along thereby fogging the actual numbers.

As far as the agreement is concerned, I see both IBM and DELL coming out winners. I also predict a strengthening of this partnership in time...possibly leading to an acquisition of DELL by IBM.

The 4-Ps of Marketing are ...Price, Product, Promotion, Place (ie distribution).

IBM's strength is in its R&D (product). DELL has the marketing know-how (promotion & distribution) and strength in component assembly (pricing).

I would not be surprised if we see the elimination of one of the brand names (IBM or DELL) in favor of the other from the PC market.
