Hi LLLefty;
One of Link's strengths is indeed the special editions they publish throughout the year (this is why I subscribe to their magazine) -- the one on privatization and another titled the Link 100 were probably the best they produced in '96.
As to other web sites, the ones I tend to follow quite regularly are:
1. The Ministry of Finance: www.mof.gov.il
2. Bank Hapoalim: www.bankhapoalim.co.il
3. Bank Discount: www.israel-discount-bank.co.il
4. Discount Investment Corp.: www.idc.co.il
5. The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: www.tase.co.il
Obviously, it is important to visit the specific companies' sites as often as possible, like you've been doing. Follow their financials, but also stay on top of their press releases -- these will tell you exactly what they're up to in terms of new products, ventures, etc. Moreover, I've come across some good stories about several Israeli companies in Fortune, Forbes, the New York Times, The Wall St. Journal and various technology publications -- all of which have home pages (do a search by company name or, even better, just enter "Israel").
Finally, can't say I know any brokers, but I do have some friends who are senior analysts at Smith Barney and Solomon, and focus specifically on Israel. In addition, given my affiliation with the NY pro-Israel business community, and specifically the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce (where I am a member of the board), I constantly interact with many executives from the law firms, accounting firms and VC funds who are active in this area.
I don't know where you live, but, if you want to network with others who share your interest in the Israeli market, I suggest you give your local America-Israel chamber a call.
Regards, Timna |
