I know this is a REALLY tacky thing to do - but Wexler's really bugged me.

WEXLER ANNOUNCES A NEW THREAD!!!
I am officialy closing the "Profits of Doom" thread and announcing the grand opening of:
Bill Wexler's Dog Pound
Subject 26311
Started By: Bill Wexler
Date: Mar 3 1999 9:07PM ET

The charming Mr. Wexler discusses his favorite grossly over/under valued stocks. We'll explore opportunities in stocks of fine pedigree that have been unfairly put in the dog house, and the nasty mongrels that deserve to be kicked to the curb.

Dog #1: CompUSA (CPU) 9 9/16 ...strong buy recommendation
[Closed at 8-1/8 on same day he started the thread]

Talk about a stock that everyone hates. Retailing is lousy, PC sales are slowing, and there is widespread perception that the competition will just make this company irrelevant. Problem is that the company...for some odd reason...continues to be the #1 retailer of computer goods quarter after quarter. Unlike its interent-based "competitors", CPU also manages to turn a profit. CompUSA recently announced a spinoff of its direct sales division and the company is sitting on nearly half a billion in cash. It's debt is easily serviceable from exisiting cash flows.

Bill, CPU was one of my favorite stocks a long time ago. Rode to a double, so

I feel very badly for CPU longs. Many of us have been down this path before, with TAVA and other stocks. But I do get perverse pleasure to see the angst Wexler is personally going thru. He never cared about the angst he caused others on this thread. KARMA RETRIBUTION.
