I disagree Carl.
Pentium is the first computer chip in history with consumer brand name recognition. I know people (a lot of people) who did not say, "I bought a computer," but rather, said, "I bought a Pentium." even if it was a Compaq or something else.
"Intel Inside" is a symbol of quality for many people who do not even know what a hard drive is.
