The following link biotech.nature.com may be useful in clarifying your point: "I'm not familiar with the court decree that was mandated by the FTC that required the divesture of this product from Pharmacia/Upjohn. I was told that it was because of monopolistic reasons but I have never heard of this before in the pharmaceutical industry." It describes a similar situation arising from the Ciba+Sandoz merger. I also seem to remember a similar situation related to vitamin C production when Roche got a ~60% stake in Genentech. Max
